Gene Joiner, Executive Director

Originally from Banner Elk, NC, "The Mountains of North Carolina," Gene and his family moved to Krislund in December of 2013 from Alabama.  They were excited to see what God was doing at the camp and felt called to be a part of it.  He enjoys the beautiful Appalachian Mountains surrounding the camp grounds, the people, and the focus on Christ here at Krislund.  For fun, Gene goes white water kayaking and rafting, does woodworking, and plays disc golf.

Ashley Miller, Assistant Director

Originally from Holly Springs, NC, Ashley came to Krislund in June of 2014.  After years of working for Gene at other camps in North Carolina and Alabama, she felt God calling her to the woods of Central Pennsylvania.  She enjoys the people, the beautiful scenery, and the opportunities to share Christ here at camp Krislund. For fun, Ashley hikes, reads, plays Frisbee with her dog (Smiley), cleans, cooks, and searches for adventures to be had.

Tammy Colwell, Retreat and Volunteer Coordinator

As a native of State College, PA., Tammy first came to Krislund in the 60's as a camper.  In the 70's, she became a member of the summer staff.   As she married and had a family, she became a volunteer Krislund board member for 20 years before joining the Krislund office staff in 2010.  Tammy enjoys serving God in this beautiful place that has been such an important part of her life.  She loves spending time with family, gardening, walking and communing with nature in general.

Mary D'Ambrosia, Office Manager and Registration

Originally from the Pittsburgh area, Mary grew up going to Camp Pine Springs. In retirement, Mary came to Krislund as a volunteer and joined the staff in 2010, excited to give youth from her church a chance to grow up with the camp experience.  She most enjoys working with families that send their children to Krislund.  In her spare time, Mary is active in her church, loves spending time with her granddaughter, walking with her family, reading and crocheting.

Ken Clouser, Building and Grounds

A life-long farmer, native of Madisonburg and owner of Clouser Enterprises, Ken has a long history at Krislund. Ken and his wife helped cook at camp on the weekends throughout the 80's.  He was hired as the Director of Maintenance from 1994-1996 and has helped in the building of several facilities on site.  He returned in 2013, and his knowledge of the Krislund site has brought great value to the maintenance staff.  Ken enjoys the challenge, the location, and the folks here at Krislund.  For fun, he hunts, builds arrows, and farms.

Jean Gerber, Publicity and Marketing

A native of Bellefonte, Jean grew up coming to Krislund as a camper in the late 60's.  In the 70's, she went through the CIT (Counselor in Training) program and then went on to become a counselor here at Krislund.  After Jean retired, she came back to Krislund, first as a volunteer and then as staff.  She enjoys the energy, enthusiasm, and fellowship she finds at Krislund and is happy for the opportunity to be part of such a great camp.  For fun, she golfs, gardens, exercises, and volunteers with various organizations.

Randy McMunn, mission out-reach/ adventure coordinator 

In a recurring theme that happens with “Krislund Kids”, Randy originally came to Krislund as a camper in the 60’s and joined the summer staff in the 70’s.  After a career in the outdoor adventure field, he found himself joining the Krislund staff upon his retirement.  Randy is using his professional background to develop a new team building initiative area, hosting and working with weekend retreats and developing a program to make Krislund a “Mission Week Center” starting in June of 2017. When not on duty, Randy’s interests include fly-fishing, canoeing, hiking and baseball. 

Ed Mackes, maintenance 

Ed is another Madisonburg native who has joined the Krislund maintenance staff and helped with Day Camp transportation in 2016.  He enjoys hunting in his spare time.

Gary Powers, maintenance

When Gary heard we needed some help in the maintenance department, he volunteered and then joined the Krislund staff upon his retirement from Penn State.  He is a Bellefonte native and is active in numerous civic activities in the Penns Valley Area.

Barry Vance, Volunteer Coordinator

From Washington, PA, Barry, along with his wife, Linda, began the Krislund volunteer program in 2006 after he retired from being a pastor.  Being close with Tor Edvar, the very first director at the camp, Barry has been well acquainted with Krislund and all that it stands for since the beginning.  He loves fellowship with volunteers and the opportunity to watch the camp improve and broaden its ministry.  For fun, Barry enjoys woodworking, wood splitting, wood cutting, reading, and playing with his Grandchildren. 

Linda Vance, Fund Development and Grants

Originally from Warren, Ohio, Linda served on the JCCC in 80's and 90's.  She began regularly volunteering in 2006.  Linda enjoys working with the volunteers and staff here at Krislund as they seek to expand the ministry in new and creative ways.  For fun, she bikes, reads, crafts, and does wood turning. 

Luke Brady, Intern

Originally from Lock Haven, PA, Luke began at Krislund in May of 2015.  Being involved in live music for a number of years, he was asked to be the summer camp worship leader.  Luke enjoys the woods, the community, and the variety of work to be done here at Krislund.  For fun, he plays drums or guitar, sings, reads, bikes, hikes, does various art projects, and hangs out with family and friends.

Julianna Brady, intern

Julianna joined the Krislund summer staff in 2016 supervising Traveling Day Camps in numerous communities.  In her “down time” last summer, Julianna spent her time planning a wonderful last day of camp.  Then she invited all of the staff to Julianna and Luke’s wedding here at Krislund.  Julianna includes hiking, painting, reading and spending time with Luke as her favorite things.

Miranda shoop, intern

Born and raised in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, Miranda came to Camp Krislund to be a camp counselor. This summer she had the privilege of seeing many of her campers accept Christ into their hearts or “Kindle the Flame” to the beginning of their relationship with Christ. Miranda has a passion for music and people and wants to get her education in Music Therapy. She feels extremely blessed to be serving in a place that became so special to her over the summer.
