ADULT VOLUNTEER PROGRAM --
Who: Any adult interested in being part of Krislund’s unique summer ministry for a week. Sorry, we are unable to accommodate non-camper children of volunteers.
When:Any 3-6 day period during the summer program (Sunday afternoon-Saturday morning)
What:See list of positions; no prior experience necessary.
Cost:Nothing, except your time. All meals are provided for you. Lodging is provided in our Lower Lodge for all volunteers except Assistant Counselors who live in the units.
Positions Available & Openings per Week:
(In order of Priority)
•Assistant counselor with 3rd /4th grade campers (4 openings)
•Kitchen Crew (4 openings)
•Maintenance (2 openings)
•Van Driver (1 opening)
•Office Support (1 opening)
MISSION VOLUNTEER POSITIONS --
We are searching for mission-oriented groups to help us make our dream of a new Adult Lodge a reality. We need you!
What Is It?
The Lodge will be a 21,000 square foot year-round ministry and hospitality center, comprised of a registration and lounge area, 20 double occupancy hotel-style rooms, two meeting rooms with kitchenettes, a business center, childcare space, courtyard, and a chapel. The Lodge will be fully accessible and connected to the existing Retreat Center in order to accommodate large group meetings and dining.
Who Will Build It?
Volunteers, individuals and groups, will do 80% of the construction work. We seek a variety of skill levels:
Level 1: non-skilled (to work alongside skilled workers)
Level 2: basic (painting, dry wall, insulation, siding)
Level 3: advanced (roofing, wall layouts, drywall finishing, trim work, doors, windows, etc.)
The Camp’s Director of Campus Development & Maintenance and the Maintenance Manager will provide orientations, building materials, and project assignments according to each group and individual’s abilities.
How Will Volunteers Be Scheduled?
Groups and individuals will be needed from September 15th, 2008 through August 15th, 2009; weekends and weekdays. Groups of 5 or less can come at 72-hour notice, and lodging will be available. Larger groups are asked to consult the Mission Coordinator, Dan Alex, at danalex@comcast.net to set up a suitable time to come.
