Once registered the participant will be sent videos to watch prior to arriving at camp, these videos will take a minimum of 6 hours to complete. Participants must complete watching the required videos prior to arriving at camp. The participants must complete a prerequisite test before they may participate in the class, failure to meet these requirements will make them ineligible for the certification. The prerequisite test will include a swim-tread-swim sequence. They must swim 150 yards using front crawl, breast stroke, or a combination of both, tread water for 2 minutes without using their arms, then swim an additional 50 yards. The second prerequisite is a timed event where they must swim 20 yards without swim goggles, retrieve a 10 pound weight from the bottom of the deep end (8 ft), then return the object to the starting point while holding the object with both hands and keeping the face at or near the surface. They must then exit the pool without using a ladder or steps, all within 1 minute 40 seconds. The participant will get two tries for both of these prerequisite tests.
